  • 125 years UITP

19 September 2010logo125uitp

Brussels, Belgium

UITP believes that public transport in a broader sense is the sustainable mobility solution for the future. This conviction stems from its long history as the centre of expertise and the promoter of the sector worldwide. Today’s forward-looking solutions are the result of past ideas and historical developments. This is especially true for the public transport sector which has adapted itself and remained relevant throughout the changes in the society.

In order to honour the 125 years’ anniversary of UITP, a series of initiatives are foreseen, including an academic session with high-level political speakers, a parade of old trams and buses in the heart of the city, followed by a reception in an exceptional venue. This event will take place within the framework of the Belgian EU Presidency and the European Mobility Week.

  • Cool Logistics 2010 coolog

20 – 22 September 2010

Hamburg, Germany

Major retailers are taking an increasingly proactive approach to sustainable procurement, including carbon footprint and waste reduction, plus ethical sourcing policies. While current initiatives are largely voluntary and market-driven, more stringent policy regimes may also loom on the horizon at both national and international level.   Speakers at Cool Logistics 2010 will explore the impact of these concerns on perishable logistics and transport, including maritime, air and landside distribution, at a time of continued pressure to take operational costs out of cold supply chains. More than ever, efficiency appears to be the mantra – but what does this really mean in practice and can common efficiency solutions be found to address sustainability and cost concerns?
The conference will also review the extent to which predicted transport capacity constraints – particularly for reefer containers – are impacting perishable supply chain planning and execution, and how to respond in the short and longer term.

  • Transtec 2010

5 – 7 October 2010

St. Petersburg, Russia

Russian ports have continuously been the key factor for the economic and foreign trade development of the country during the last 20 years. The Russian ports form the basic element which connects sea, inland waterways transportation, short-se shipping and which influences directly the railway, road and air transportation of Russia.
In accordance with the opinion expressed by the Secretary General of IAPH during his participation jointly with ASOP at the last “TRANSTEC 2008” Exhibition, it is evident that Russia’s economy is obviously strong for the future although it may have a number of problems to overcome like any other country. It was pointed out that Russia cannot grow and develop by itself in the future but, on the basis of its great geographical advantages, Russia has good opportunities.
