THE EIA INTERMODAL AWARD

Award

The Intermodal Award event is a wonderful opportunity to learn about existing intermodal transport solutions. To stimulate innovative, concrete solutions for the intermodal industry, EIA will attribute, “Intermodal Awards” to those organizations, who contributed the ‘best‘ solution to promote Intermodal transport in a specific area. The playing field is global and concerns the whole intermodal industry.

Awards for which areas?

To be able to compare different applications, it’s necessary to discriminate some areas of activities. Best intermodal transport or freight integration service from A to B Best intermodal transport or logistic product (examples: special wagons, trailors, handling equipment, IT-software etc.) Best integration of intermodalism into a shipper’s logistic chain.

What to win?

First of all, the winners can win an elegant, bronze Award (Trophy) which symbolises all transport modes in an integrated manner, which will be handed-over by the President of EIA (Mr. Livio Ambrogio), the Secretary General of EIA, Mr. K. Ebeling and/or a representative of the EU Commission.

During a cocktail party, the winners can present their ‘best’ intermodal solution in front of a large high-level audience. The winning files will be considered as ‘best practical examples’ for the EU authorities from one side, the ‘market’ from the other side and EIA as neutral ‘bridging platform’ in between.

Interviews are foreseen, information concerning the short-listed companies on our website will be published, large-volume email newsflashes to all the relevant EU institutions, transport companies will be disseminated a few months up to the event, during the handing-over ceremony itself and even after the ceremony.

Moreover, a number of Transport Magazines are invited to write articles about the winning intermodal products / services.

Independent Jury:

The annual Intermodal Awards event is officially supported by both the European Commission, European Parliament who accepted a seat in the independent Jury. Other Jury members who are invited to accept a seat are representatives of various transport sectors like rail, road, waterborne, forwarders and shippers (manufacturers).

Procedure:

Template Application form Intermodal Award

Three key judging criteria: the product or service should be in an intermodal environment, in actual commercial operation and innovative in approach. Please note that by mentioning the measurable contribution of your company to the environment, your chances to win will increase.

Research projects, feasibility studies, etc. are not accepted in this competition, since it is our aim to focus on concrete and existing market realisations, no ‘paper’ solutions. Intermodal is making it work in reality, not producing theoretical formulas.

Structure of your file:

  1. Description of the product
  2. Operational relevant facts & figures
  3. Intermodal aspects
  4. Innovative aspect
  5. Key strategic elements which turned your product into a market success. The applications of those who follow the required structure are more likely to succeed.

After receipt of all applications, a shortlist will be prepared of candidates who met the minimum selection criteria & structure; this will be the basis of discussion for the independent Jury.

Format in which the files should be transmitted:

  1. A file in Word or ‘html‘ format to be integrated either on the website of EIA or via a hyperlink towards the website of the candidate. This approach has been chosen to be as transparent as possible. (be to the point; +/- 10-15 pages including pictures)
  2. In case of confidential facts & figures, the candidate may choose to send a confidential ‘version’ of the same file to the Jury.

Surf regularly on the website of EIA to be informed about any updates concerning deadlines / procedures, or contact EIA.
