The Green Corridor – A Partnership for Sustainable Transport Solutions
On 15th December 2009 in Vilnius, EIA Secretary General Klaus Ebeling, signed a cooperation agreement with our newest member JSC Lithuanian Railways.
He also took part in the establishment of the East West Transport Corridor Association Initiative Group. The main objectives of this group are:
- To perform sustainable management of the EWTC as the green corridor, fitting for the European transport policies and market demands on growing freight transport, promoting innovations of all transport modes
- To strengthen co-operation among transport, logistics companies, national, regional and local governments, science and research institutions along ETWC; to develop links between EWTC and global regions
- To promote high competitiveness, reliability, and high quality services performance of the EWTC, implementing common key performance indicators and standards, achieving simplified procedures and documentation.
- To deepen intermodality along EWTC through harmonized development of infrastructures and technologies of different transport modes.
- To represent interests of the associated EWTC partners in European Commission as well as for national and regional governments.
